We’ve been getting some questions about the tacfit commando program. People are asking what is it, what’s it for etc.

In a nutshell it is: A freakin’ tough bodyweight training system.

Tacfit Commando (This video on our YouTube Channel)

==> Click Here to give TACFIT Commando a look over

One of the guys that helped put the system together is a buddy of mine, Adam Steer. He specializes in bodyweight training programs and this is their newest system.

Adam was actually at ‘the bunker’ training with me a couple weeks ago, he was in town so we hooked up for a workout, and he actually came up with a new variation of the ‘Adonis Cross” and I’m mildly embarrassed to say that his version is significantly harder than mine!

I think I’ll have to add that to Adonis 3.0!

Anyway, back to his new system…

It’s an extremely intense bodyweight system that uses principles and techniques that commando’s, special ops, tactical teams, and federal agents are trained on to prepare them for field work.

This is a departure from traditional weight training but a great way to do strength endurance conditioning and move your body and activate your muscles in patterns that you might not have ever tried before.

I’d suggest using it as a whole body strength/conditioning option that can be both added to our program as a 5th day of conditioning (one of our guys recommended this, thanks Pete)

You can also cycle to this program for a 4 week departure from the Adonis Index System to get moving in new patterns, allow for exercise specific rest and recovery and push yourself for a different kind of conditioning and strength.

What you’ll need:

1) A bit of Space but not much

2) No weights

3) Intensity

4) Effort

5) Desire

If it sounds like something you’d like to learn about and incorporate into your workouts I suggest you check it out, we can show you how to put it in.

(It’s not work safe, so either put on some headphones or turn the volume down.)

I’ve been getting emails from you guys about this “rogue” sex expert by the name of David Shade, so naturally, I tracked him down and got him to split some of his philosophies on both women and life. Now, David and I have never met personally, however I do know one of the guys in his camp quite well and we talk on the regular, so if you’re wondering if what you’re about to listen to is scammy or not, based on my friend Craig, I can vouch for the authenticity of what you’re about to hear.

But be warned, some of it is intense and may not be very comfortable to ponder.

Give this a listen, it’s quite eye opening… and if this sounds like something you may need to get handled, I got you a deal until Sunday at midnight on his “Wild Screaming…” course (which includes “Cure Nice Guy”)

Here’s the interview:

(<== Experts Say If You Go Too Low You'll Lose An Eye!)

I just got back from the gym this morning and the “How Low Can You Go?” song by Ludacris was on…

… and it made me think of a interesting little story that happened to me this weekend.

And when I say story, I really mean “comment”.

You see, it’s wedding season and L and I are loaded down with wedding festivities for people we know. Oh, and by the way, it’s a joy to go to all of these things… maybe.

Anyway, back on the ranch, we were at one of her friend’s shower on Saturday when both the future bride and groom looked at me and said…

“Dude, have you been working out, you look a lot bigger…”

… which is FUNNY because I’m actually SMALLER than the last time they saw me.

The difference is that I’m down over 30 lbs with the same muscle size… so I get to shamelessly wear tighter fitting shirts

Interesting? You betcha.

So that brings me to the next couple of points.

#1 Based on yesterday’s podcast on “What Causes Muscle Growth“, lots of people are emailing in asking about the precise number of calories it takes to build muscle AND it seems people want us to basically give everyone permission to eat as much as you want.

In light of that, a muscle building rule of thumb:

Eat however much you want, but keep an eye on your waist measurement. If your waist measurement is going UP, then you know those calories are spilling over and AREN’T being used to build muscle.

If you want to choke down 4000 calories per day… great. But if your waist starts going up, then you’re wasting your money on food and “shakes”. Bottom line.

(HA! Waist is ‘wasting’)

#2 If your waist IS going up… then you’re likely spending more money on food than you need to. If you’re trying to find some spare money for a vacation or something, it MIGHT be a good idea to look at your food spending and grocery bill. Plus, you DO want to look good when you go on vacation right?

(Hmmm, I wonder if you could reallocate enough money in a way that you lose weight and get a vacation basically for “free”… interesting thought)

#3 “How Low Can You Go?”

Answer: As LOW as you can handle.

Look, there are a lot of guys coming around the bend with new products and services that claim to be able to let you go LOWER than you ever thought possible. And, it seems that a lot of the “conventional” wisdom is being shuttled out the door with the quickness as new strategies for going low evolve.

Do they work?

Yeah, big time. Just make sure to keep lifting to keep your mind in line with your overall goal of a good physique (using AI and VI as your metrics) and you can go as LOW as you can handle. Of course, I like my way because it works with my lifestyle, but the real choice in all of this is simple, no matter if you’re trying to slash body fat with the quickness, or grow rock hard muscle…

… you can either CHOOSE to change your whole life to dedicate to this one goal…

… or you can CHOOSE to morph your plan to fit into your life.

Either way works, you just have to decide which way is best for you. For some, the all or nothing approach is the only thing that will work for them. Others, like myself, can bob and weave fluidly and get great results as well.

Which way will you choose?

Brad

(<== Brad Pilon chillin at Wet Republic behind the MGM Grand in Vegas)

What I'm about to tell you revolves around both my own experiences and failures with Eat Stop Eat AND the experiences and failures of others who have embarked on the Eat Stop Eat Lifestyle.

Does this mean that Eat Stop Eat is a failure of a program?

In 2 words…

HELL. NO.

In fact, the power of ESE is unmistakable to someone that’s been struggling with extra weight. Quite frankly, it’s a god send.

BUT, there are a few places where people can get hung up on the program so what I’m going to do right now is give you a “plug in” if you will, and this “plug in” will show you how to use Eat Stop Eat as a powerful framework to getting the low body fat levels you deserve.

First of all, let me tell you the ONE thing that ESE will do for you that completely trumps any other benefit.

“After you take a break from eating for 24 hours a few times and magically discover that you haven’t DIED or broken down or that your skin hasn’t fallen off from malnutrition or that your pecker hasn’t shrank (come on, guys, you KNOW you think about it… lol) – you suddenly feel this incredible WEIGHT rapidly lift off of your shoulders as you realize that everything you’ve ever read or been told by big media just DOESN’T APPLY to you any more…”

Your mind opens up to other possibilities.

You start to stress less about this weight loss thing because you now KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can actually LIVE YOUR LIFE and get the body you want at the same time.

No sacrificing time with the kids.

No drinking cat urine or whatever the next great superfood is.

No worries about spending 57.35 hours in the gym a week – only to get hurt and/or break a knee

(and yes I’m exaggerating a bit… )

So with that being said. Let me give you 4 solid tips on how to MAXIMIZE your ESE experience.

Tip #1: Don’t call it fasting. Call it “taking a break from eating”.

Look, point blank, you mention the word “fasting” in forums or around your friends or family and you’d think that you’d clubbed a baby seal with the response you’ll get back. The fact is, NO ONE will understand it and this is a losing battle all the way around. No need to test the mettle of your friends and family, because they ALL care about you and will only give you their uneducated opinion of the subject in the effort to HELP you. Why add the drama? Which leads to…

Tip #2: Try to arrange your “breaks” in such a way that the NON eating portions of your day go under the radar.

Why?

Simple. Diet “persecution” is still the MAIN reason people never lose weight. And, when you broadcast your “diet” to the world, whether you tell them out right or skip a meal or outing due to “diet”, you can generally expect all sorts of BLOWBACK, whether it’s a friend telling you a ‘better’ way to do it, or the co worker that says “Oh, one beer won’t hurt”.

In other words, just like we talked about in the “Proven Fat Loss Formula” post, try to arrange your fasts around your social life if possible.

If you’re finding (like myself) that dinner is ON everynight, then a dinner to dinner fast is in order.

(plus, if you’re at work, you can just say you’re not hungry or are slammed, etc – easy way to deflect)

In other words, let ESE be YOUR LITTLE SECRET until you are well on your way to getting the results you want. Then tell people the secret.

More weight loss progress is lost due to people not being able to develop CONSISTENTLY due to failure to launch or social blowback.

Don’t be that person. Better to share with people that are going the the exact same process (other ESE’ers) for now and get your motivation/inspiration from those people and not from those NOT-in-the-know.

Tip #3: When you eat your first meal after your fast, eat the EXACT same as you normally would for that particular meal. Same portions, etc. So, if you normally eat 3 meals per day, then ideally, on your fasting day, you’re just looking to MINUS out the 2 meals without impacting the 3rd.

Too many people just relax and think that the fast itself is doing all of the work… that the fast is the magic.

But if you pound a 2000 calorie meal… you just fasted for nothing.

In other words, the idea is to have the same eating profile as normal – and just “forget” about the meals you missed, then just keep on trucking like you normally would. Don’t COMPENSATE for the fast by eating more for your next meal.

Tip #4: Get a grip on your maintenance load of calories. This is easier than it sounds.

If you haven’t been gaining weight over the last few weeks, you’re at maintenance. Just insert your fast (or fasts) into your strategic places and you’re off to the races (but remember the other tips)

However, if you’ve been gaining weight recently, just adding in a few fasts MY only bring you down to maintenance. So you feel like you’re doing all of this “work” but not losing weight.

Listen, if you’re ramming 3000 calories down your gullet every day, 1 to 2 fasts per week isn’t going to cut it.

You’re gonna need to show SOME restraint on your off days as well.

Basically, here’s the gist of it… if you don’t get a handle on what your maintenance levels are… then you’ll balloon back up to where you were once you stop the “diet”. You can’t continue to eat the way you were because that’s what got you there in the first place. So loosely determining maintenance is a HUGE key both in the short term and long term.

Remember, the goal is to either hold an AVERAGE caloric deficit over time OR to hold an AVERAGE caloric equilibrium over time. Thinking in weekly chunks definitely helps remove all of the statistical fluctuations and “food errors” that can occur…

… and also keeps you sane.

In closing, Eat Stop Eat is a great – but most importantly – a FREEING system for almost effortless weight loss.

If you pick up Brad’s book, read it, and then apply these 4 “plugins”…

… you’re off to the races.

Ah… the age of sensationalism. Where people make ridiculous claims based on unproven theories and NON real world results.

And perhaps, right about now, you’re thinking that I’m about to rake you over the coals with some “magic” fat loss formula that only exists in Peter Pan land or that can only be achieved by those with no job and no social life.

Nope.

Not even close.

What I’m about to share with you is the result of over 2 years of tweaking and is proven to work in a “free range” environment…

… and never fails.

It doesn’t require that you understand hormones… it doesn’t require that you understand how fat is oxidized… it doesn’t require you understand the difference between protein, carbs, and fats…

In fact, it’s like driving a car.

You likely don’t understand how power steering works, or the flame speed of gasoline, or whether the engine represents an adiabatic, nonisentropic process or not, or whether the fuel mixture is “rich” or “lean” or in stoichiometric proportions, or the drag coefficient of your car…

… because you don’t need to.

You just know that if you put the key in (or push the button), shift out of park and hit the gas, you get the result you want.

But, just in case you ARE a fanatic about the hormones, etc of fat loss, the method I’m getting ready to show you naturally takes all of this into account, WITHOUT you even having to worry about it.

I REPEAT. It ALL is NATURALLY accounted for… without ANY extra focus on your part.

And again, it’s been tested relentlessly over thousands of people in the free range.

(Free range = people do it for themselves with no exterior coaching or accountability… it’s all on them. Having a personal trainer or diet coach looking over you is NOT free range)

It’s also “healthy”. So far, every person that’s gotten all of their “health” measurements checked have come back “normal” or “above normal”… which I guess is the only way you can truly measure “health”.

Also, I promise you this:

Although this process ISN’T magic… it will surely feel like it is. Just give it a week and test it out.

Okay, lets get started.

First, we need to understand the “primary driver” of fat loss… and there is only one. It is simply: Fat loss requires a caloric deficit over time. Create it however you want but regardless of the how… the deficit MUST be achieved in order for fat loss to occur.

It is a non-negotiable law.

In fact, it’s really the only RULE of fat loss, everything else, all of the methods (even this one) are governed by this rule. They must ALL fit inside this bucket in order to work. This is why there are so many diet books and programs… they all can pretty much “work” as long as they don’t violate this rule. Yet, most methods FAIL because they don’t allow for the 2nd step in this method.

Second, you need to understand and map out your lifestyle CONSTRAINTS.

You need to do this.

Before you figure out how you want to tackle fat loss, you have to understand the “rate limiting steps” of your life. Face it, if you’re slammed ALL day, have limited financial resources, with 7 kids and the nearest gym is 40 miles away, you have different constraints than a person with no kids, a gym next door, no job because they were left a fortune and have all the time in the world.

Yet, many plans and programs superimpose the plan that “works” for person B on person A and expect it to work… and blame your laziness or willpower when it doesn’t because the plan is (cough) PROVEN. This is akin to one person being able to dunk a basketball on a 20 foot goal on the moon, and another person NOT being able to dunk an 8 foot goal on earth… even though they did the same exercise program.

Not only do initial conditions matter (where you start)… but the constraints and build up of your life matter as well.

You need to IDENTIFY your constraints and work them INTO your plan, not try to expend all of this energy trying to ELIMINATE the constraint. Face it. You have certain responsibilities in your life and some things even though you COULD change them, the energy it would take to change them is so much, it’s not worth it.

And, guess what. You don’t have to.

Here’s an example:

I eat dinner with my girlfriend every night. In the past, I would have imposed certain rules on this dinner and it just feels weird. It’s kinda like not eating dinner with your kids every night and having them ask “Why isn’t mommy/daddy eating with us?” Basically, I know this is going to happen each night and it’s imperative for our relationship that I let it happen. We get to reconnect and debrief each other. Overall, it’s good for my sanity.

If you have a job in sales, then you KNOW that you’ll be entertaining clients and taking them to dinner. But, you also know that you can’t order a salad when everyone else (your potential sale) is eating steak because part of sales is NOT insulting the client. (if you’re in sales, you get this comment, if you’re not… I’ll explain “mirroring” another time).

So you KNOW that this is a constraint of yours.

What about exercise? How much time can you create a week for it? How do you fit it in?

(As an aside, at this stage, you can’t worry about local optimums or whether something is the “best” way or if certain TIMES are better than others. At this stage, you have to get a handle on the hand you’re working with, not WISH for another hand. Also, if certain TIMES of the day were the only times that you could exercise for results, personal trainers would be REALLY expensive because they’d only be able to work you out between 7am and 8am each day. There would BE NO OTHER TIME SLOTS… think about that.)

Ultimately, this is called “Seeing The Battlefield” and your ability to do this will determine your success or failure.

Now, after we’ve determined all of our “lifestyle constraints” – oh, and these could be “health constraints” as well like diabetes, a broken foot, etc. (Funny that people and coaches tend to take “health” constraints seriously but tend to overlook and ‘blame game’ lifestyle constraints with accusations of willpower deficiency, etc. Trust me when I say that no one EVER needs willpower to continue doing something THAT IS EFFORTLESSLY WORKING FOR THEM… this is an important thing to know, as we’ll soon see)

Next, we have to set up our measurement protocols and goals.

How are we going to determine our results? How are we going to measure our progress and MOST IMPORTANTLY… where do the ERRORS in any measurements occur?

Here’s a fact:

ALL conventional (ie accessable to you… not in a lab) measurements for both caloric intake and caloric burn have error rates that are completely unacceptable in all other scientific and engineering research. Where as most error rates in other fields need to be less than 0.1% of the unit of measurement to be “acceptable”, measurements for both caloric intake (labels, etc) and caloric burn (calorie counters on machines, body bugs, and other formulas) have error rates that can exceed 30%!

For example, you could read your food labels and think you’re getting 1000 calories of food, but because of “rounding” on the labels and maybe your servings were larger than the average ‘batch size’, you could very EASILY consume 300 calories MORE than you think.

Couple that with thinking you burned 1000 calories in a workout when you only burned 200… and you can see how crazy this gets.

Naturally, some people may say, “Well, I’ll just get a food scale and measure my food” – and that’s completely fine – UNLESS you have a time or money constraint and can’t make it work in your life.

This is why we determine CONSTRAINTS FIRST… before we decide on plan of attack. You can’t have an aerial bombing run if you’ve got no planes, right?

Now, because of the insane errors that occur with all forms of calorie counting (both in and out)… we’ve come up with the following guidelines and frame work for you to work within.

1. Assume that the amount of calories you are burning through exercise is LOWER than you think.

2. Assume that the amount of calories you are taking in through food is HIGHER than you think.

3. Assume that you CANNOT and WILL NOT drop any fat WITHOUT some sort of dietary controls on food volume.

4. Assume that you CAN lose body fat through calorie restriction ALONE (ie no exercise needed)

Now, I can go through rigorous proofs on how this all really works but lets just say that exercise alone generally causes compensatory effects in most people (ie sleep longer, take a nap, eat more) when the other variables aren’t strictly controlled.

So, what’s the easiest way to wrap all of this up into one nice little guideline to follow?

Free Range Guideline: “Assume that exercise and daily activity burns NO EXTRA calories in your day and use your calculated BMR as your calorie starting point for the day”

Sure, sounds harsh, but it actually makes more sense than you’d think.

1. If exercise introduces a compensating effect, then the calories you ‘burned’ off could be re-injected at some point during the day.
2. Exercise generally burns LESS calories than you think – unless you’re exercising more than 2 hours a day, which goes back to our constraints

Therefore, we can effectively view the calories burned by exercise as a ‘wash’ for all practical purposes and in fact, with the errors involved, is really the only way you can be SURE you have a handle on this part of the equation.

So, for example, I just went to a BMR calculator and got that my BMR is roughly 1861 calories burned per day. I just rounded up for simplicity and use 1900 as my “base number”.

Now that I have my base number… which is the only number I’ll need… I just multiply this number by 7 to get my maximum weekly caloric load.

1900 x 7 = 13300 calories per week

So, now we see that I have a MAXIMUM budget of 13300 calories per week and still lose SOME fat. (because of our assumptions, this will be a LITTLE lower than your maintanance in general, but it guarantees you’re under the bar for all PRACTICAL purposes.

Next, we apply our constraints.

Applying your constraints to exercise generally yields this recommendation:

Weight training is your foundation… cardio is your “extra”. If you have a time constraint on either DAYS you can work out or TIME PERIODS or BOTH, weight training will ALWAYS take presidence over cardio work UNLESS another constraint prevents it (broken bones, etc).

We can go over the “health benefits” another day but for all practical purposes, most people hate cardio… so they won’t do it… lol. (pseudo constraint)

(Now, remember, exercise is NOT necessary for fat loss… so don’t get your panties in a bunch if this is a toughy for you. If you can’t workout for a week straight, no biggie, just work with the “diet” portion and inject your workouts back in when you’re able)

Applying your constraints to “diet” will likely look like this:

1. What are the lifestyle constraints? These include work, kids, time, and social activities. Dropping body fat for most people represents a SOCIAL problem and most plans fail when you get around the pressures of others. More on this in a bit.

2. What are your FOOD constraints? What do you like to eat? What do you hate to eat? What about drinks? Hate water? ETC. If your plan requires you to eat things that you don’t like, you won’t stick with it, lets be honest and upfront about this.

3. Establish scenarios where WILLPOWER may be needed due to “aroused” states and eliminate or incorporate these scenarios into your program. In other words, if you have plans to meet your friends at a sports bar to watch the game and you like beer, either ACCOUNT for this proactively in your plan OR don’t go. Never let WILLPOWER be the thing keeping you on target when you can take care of it ahead of time. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Your fat loss strategy SHOULD NOT be willpower driven.

4. Take your maximum weekly caloric load and subtract out 3500 x the ideal number of pounds of fat you’d like to drop that week. I say ideal because with all of the error built in PLUS the fact that we’re likely going to “eyeball” our food for the week with guess-timations, and the fact that our daily “targets” are more “beacons” than exact numbers, this works well.

So for me, I subtracted out 7000 calories (2 pounds of fat) per week to give me a “balance” of around 6500 calories per week to consume.

(Sounds rough doesn’t it? Hey, it’s your plan and you can adjust however you want as LONG as it’s something you can stick with… that’s the key if you haven’t noticed. This WHOLE process of deriving your plan has NOTHING to do with hormones and local optimums and EVERYTHING to do with the deficit YOU CAN STICK TO OVER TIME)

5. Take your “adjusted” caloric load, apply your constraints to it, and map out your week.

For example, I know that Saturdays we generally go out and its important for me to be social. I also know that I’m eating dinner with my girl EVERY DAY. So, I start there and wrap EVERYTHING ELSE AROUND THESE 2 THINGS.

I’m not going to “best case scenario” my plan on willpower and assume that I won’t want a few drinks. What if I see a friend that I haven’t seen in a while? Instead of willpowering my way through, I just build this in. So lets say Saturday is a 2000 calorie day. That’s the “allotment”. That leaves me 4500 calories for the rest of the week.

Next, I assume that on average, each dinner meal for the rest of the week (that I control because I do the grocery shopping) is going to be about 500 calories give or take… so that’s 3000 calories out as well.

That leaves me 1500 calories to spread throughout the week.

And, with my work schedule, I generally don’t eat breakfast and lunch is rare unless I dine out… so I essentially “fast” for a few days per week… even though that’s not the plan, it’s just how my life works.

Here’s my general fat loss plan for myself:

Monday: 500 calories (dinner only)
Tuesday: 1000 calories (lunch and dinner or all dinner)
Wednesday: 500 calories (dinner only)
Thursday: 1000 calories (lunch and dinner or all dinner)
Friday: 500 calories (dinner only)
Saturday: 2000 calories (lunch, dinner, maybe some drinks)
Sunday: 1000 calories (lunch and dinner, or all dinner)

… and I generally get 4-5 days of exercise in. 20-30 minutes of walking to read and clear my head per day and 45-60 of weight training… but sometimes I skip the walk if time is an issue.

Also, my days are interchangeable so if a buddy of mine calls on a Wednesday and wants to do lunch, I just go ahead with it and let Thursday be Wednesday.

Now, are all of these numbers exact?

Heck no.

But they give me a great ballpark or “beacon” to shoot for each day and all of the possible errors are already built in to the program, so even if I “accidentally” overshoot by a bit one or two days out of the week, I’m still all good.

Some things to note:

1. Eliminate or account for ALL willpower challenges. For me that means generally I go to the grocery store each night for dinner to eliminate the extra food that may be available in the house if I wake up in the middle of the night… because even if I’m not hungry, I tend to want to put something in my mouth. Controlling food availability is one way to eliminate the need for willpower. Make sense? This is just an easier battle to fight than struggling and eventually giving yourself a reason to eat the pop tart that’s staring at you.

2. Your food choices are going to be based on your plan, so in general, you’ll be eating more veggies by default. It’s really the only way to get in a higher volume of food and still stay under “budget”. You’ll also probably find that protein sources help with hunger… although after the first week, it’s generally not a huge issue to contend with. With that said, you’ll probably stay away from processed carbs because they make you hungry after you eat them… so it just makes sense to make it as easy as you can on yourself. But, then again, they may NOT affect you in this manor.

3. You’ll probably employ strategies like “intermittent fasting” and “cheat meals” by default, because that’s just how your life works out. So your “hormones” that everyone is trying to scare you about… well, they’re taken care of.

In conclusion, I’ve lost of 35 lbs using this method and my muscle size and strength are for the most part, the same (when I normalize back to eating regularly).

Each winner of our transformation contest has used this method, even if they didn’t KNOW IT, to win their respective divisions.

Barban used this in his quest to drop 35 lbs as well.

It’s been tested on 1000′s of “free range” people. It doesn’t require a coach, just simple math and applying your personal constraints to the problem FIRST. Quite frankly, it’s the ONLY way I know that takes all of the mystery and scare tactics out of fat loss and applies the REAL REASONS you never get results to your problem.

Oh, and don’t forget, by ALL measurable markers… it’s “healthy” as well.

And I just gave it to you… for free.

Oh, and by the way, because you’re accounting for ALL of your social events and gatherings, NO ONE will ever know that you’re trying to lose body fat. Everything you’re doing is “covert”… it’s under the radar.

That means, that NO ONE can persecute you because they have no IDEA that you’re doing ANYTHING… because you’re not BROADCASTING it to the world!

In fact, they’ll probably start accusing you of having a RAVENOUS METABOLISM… how funny is that?

This is truly the only method I’ve ever seen that:

1. Eliminates most of the need for “willpower”
2. Eliminates the social pressures of “going on a diet” and the persecution of “friends and family” challenging your diet with other “diets” and “that’s not healthy” talk
3. Takes into account YOUR life YOUR constraints
4. Bases food choices on numbers and what you like, not on trying to eat a “certain” way
5. Keeps your “hormones” in check… by all “guru” accounts (insulin, leptin, growth hormone, etc)… and WITHOUT you having to hassle or worry about it.

Our Adonis customers have been using this “Covert Nutrition” for a while now and in fact, if you want, you can find out MORE about it by picking up the Adonis Index Systems today.
And yes, it’s healthy (I know I’m gonna get blowback from this… this “healthy” talk, but we’re the only people you know that have HARD “free range” data and health measurements from people just like you that have used this).

Give it a try.

Stay cool,

Brad

p.s. If you’re not losing weight on the scale, don’t fool yourself into thinking that you’re “turning muscle into fat”… muscle doesn’t grow as fast as fat disappears. So even if you are gaining muscle and losing fat, the scale will be going DOWN.

The Weight Loss Research Explained podcast was one of our best yet from a content/eye opening perspective I’d say. So, in the spirit of extending the conversion beyond what we covered in the podcast, I want to expand on something that we touched on briefly.

Focusing on local optimums.

Or in other words, trying to maximize one specific part of your weight loss or muscle building system regardless of it’s effects on your “throughput” or productivity as a whole.

Sounds like high tech mumbo jumbo doesn’t it?

It’s really not.

Let me ask you this.

How many times have you attempted to improve one specific area of your life… and you improve it… only to have it NOT have a profound effect on your life AS A WHOLE?

I know I’ve done it a bunch of times myself.

I’ve tried the eating 6 meals a day to “optimize” my energy and insulin levels.

I’ve done the bouts of interval training to “optimize” my fat burning potential.

I’ve pounded out squats and deads to “optimize” my muscle building hormone profile.

Heck, I’ve even pounded a 6 pack of beer to “optimize” my perceived communication abilities with the ladies… HAHA! (tell me you haven’t).

But guess what?

Not one of these optimizations have gotten me the results I wanted and in fact, once I STOPPED focusing on these local optimums and started to understand what the real goal and the real measurement of that goal was, did I understand exactly WHY I wasn’t getting the results I wanted.

There is a difference in a “controlled” environment and a “free range” environment… and almost all of us operate in a “free range” environment – yet almost all of the advice given in health and fitness today is based on a result from a “controlled” environment

And, it’s tough to translate a result that someone gets in a study… or even with supervised training… which in essence holds one or more important variables in check… when you couple that with the fact that the makeup of YOUR life is completely different than everyone else’s.

All of the variables are different. (notice I said LIFE and not body)

But even personal trainers have a tough time getting people results a lot of the time.

Why?

It’s simple. The trainer or coach only has access or control of 2-4 hours of a person’s time per WEEK. So no matter how optimized the training protocol, which is the area that the trainer has full control over… unless there’s some sort of strategy that addresses all of the other compensating effects, all of the OTHER important variables… then the person being trained may only achieve certain performance improvements, but not the “looks” improvements that they desire.

Here’s an example:

5 or 6 years ago when I was in the health club game, I set up a program with our trainers that was COMPLETELY HARDCORE. It was group training and used a lot of the principles you hear about on most of the fitness blogs out there today.

- intervals
- supersets
- bodyweight exercises
- etc

… but, after 8 weeks, there was one woman that just wasn’t getting ANY results.

Zero.

(And this was the start of me REALLY starting to understand local optimums.)

Why was it that given the SAME workout protocol, could some people get great results, and others get none?

Naturally, I found out my answer as one of my trainers escorted this woman out to her car to get her check for the next months installment of training… and when our client opened the door to her car… imagine my surprise when a floorboard full of McDonald’s wrappers fell out of the car.

No joke.

Now, of course, you’re probably thinking to yourself “Well duh, no wonder she wasn’t getting results” – and you’d be right.

But that’s not the point.

The point is that this woman was convinced that all she needed to do was participate and make sure her “workouts” were “optimized” and the fat would just drip off of her. This is the primary danger of focusing on local optimums. You lose sight of what the “primary driver” of your results really is.

It’s like John pointed out yesterday. There’s more to the puzzle than just saying something is “best”.

“Best” for who?

“Best” in what situation?

And, what makes it even more difficult is when you allow people to make their own assumptions based on the advice you give, where the biggest assumption is ALWAYS more is better.

If I say one interval session is good… you’ll do 3.

Again, in an effort to maximize this local optimum.

So what’s the real answer?

Simple.

You have to maximize the productivity of the ENTIRE SYSTEM AS A WHOLE!

Here’s a secret:

Maximizing the entire system MAY NOT require you to run ANYTHING at a local optimum!

It’s about CONSISTENCY and COMPETENCE.

Look, we’ve been through 3 iterations of the Adonis Index Systems, and each time, we adjust something due to “free range” conditions.

And because of it, a higher percentage of people are seeing awesome results.

It’s all based on giving you the TOOLS to maximize the productivity of the ENTIRE SYSTEM… not local optimums.

But only YOU can truly do the maximizing… and it’s NOT by us… OR YOU… focusing on running one little teeny part of your life at 100% efficiency.

After all, it’s about building a better life for yourself… and if that’s not the overall end goal, then none of this truly matters.

B

Not only does your favorite “guru” tell you to exercise and eat a certain way, but then, in another email, he tells you you should buy someone else’s product (that has the complete OPPOSITE approach).

So we understand why you may be spinning your wheels (which is another reason we say “unsubscribe from everyone else’s stuff).

Look, a lot of people will sell you out to make a quick buck, but not us.

We’re gonna do something no one else is willing to do… ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. Check the video out for details.

Stay cool,

Brad

p.s. Don’t get sucked in by the whirlwind of product launches. While it’s true that some are great, most are either rehashed info that everyone else is selling or based on unproven theory conformed around a limited amount of research or even research where the results are SO miniscule, you’d laugh if you knew the truth. There are only a few people that are CONSISTENTLY ahead of the curve and we aren’t willing to sell our souls just for you to get even more confused.

It’s not worth it.

Now, the reason I wrote this little ditty is because a LOT of guys have been writing in with questions relating to how things CHANGE when you get the body you want. We know things change – thus the reason for the “Best Adonis Story” contest in the transformation contest (ends this month).

But, there’s a factor that many guys aren’t aware of that may hurt you when you get closer to your “ideal body”.

This is my attempt to explain when you may see… if you’re not careful.

Enjoy, and let me know if I need to explain anything further.

You know, there’s a lot of jockeying around by the health and fitness industry talking about the “magical” properties of 6 pack abs.

And, naturally, I think it’s a little misleading.

In this video, I talk about why I think the supposed main “benefit” of 6 pack abs is misleading…

… and what is MORE important for you to understand instead.

(It has to do with “cream”… and the 80/20 principle)

Stay cool,

Brad

In Monday’s podcast, John and I went into detail about how Politics, Science, and Industry creatively CLASH together to bring you the claims, research, and even GUIDELINES that most of us now take for the gospel.

If you didn’t get a chance to listen in, here’s the link:

Nutrition Guidelines and Marketing – Who Can You Trust?

Now, as promised, we’re going to take an actual study for next weeks podcast and show you how to deconstruct what’s really going on and EXPOSE the realities of both what the study really means and how the scientists use creative analysis to highlight claims and maximize “punch” to get their stuff published…

… which, of course, lets the industry marketing guys run wild with a study that shows 300% more fat loss or muscle building, even though the actual gross fat loss or muscle gain is essentially GRAMS or a TENTH of a gram.

But, we need your help.

In the comments section of the blog, we’re asking for some direction on WHAT type of studies you want to see exposed or ripped apart.

Right now, it’s the Tabata protocol (interval training) and the most quoted study there is on the subject that it looks like we’re gonna tackle.

However, if you want something else, let us know.

Also, we’ve had a few people say that they can’t get the player to play.

I’m going to have all of the podcast files sent to a redundant server and upload a page where you can get the raw files in case this happens to you… should be next week.

Oh, and transcripts should be available for all of the podcasts as well starting in 2 weeks, just in case you like to read more than you do listen.

So there you go, more nuggets for your dome on this wonderful Wednesday.

Don’t forget to “vote” for Monday’s podcast subject today.

Stay cool,

Brad

p.s. Here’s a cool video of John talking about one of our most common questions:

What Makes Up Metabolic Rate?

This week, I’m attending a killer conference and yesterday evening, I heard something that I wanted to share with you.

You see, I truly believe in the “translation” of ideas.

What that means is, taking one idea from one area of life (in this case, business) and translating it over to another part of life (your body)

And the idea is this:

Everyday, we are presented with MULTIPLE opportunities to either ENRICH your life, or DEGRADE your life.

It’s a manner of making “rich” decisions or “poor” ones.

In other words, lets say your goal is to get your body to perfect proportions… (and it IS… right?)

There will come a time today where you have to decide if you’re working out or not.

There will come a time today where you have to decide whether you’re putting that greasy slice of pizza down your throat.

In that moment, you will make either a decision to ENRICH or life or DEGRADE it… and the SUM of all of these enriching and degrading actions equals the RESULT you get in your life.

Now, I’m sure you’ve noticed how we talk about having a fruitful lifestyle and not living like a hermit…

(And I’m totally taking my own advice from Saturday’s email by the way, about meeting people just to meet people… SO POWERFUL)

… and in order to get these results that you’re looking for…

… you need to consistently make more ENRICHING decisions regarding the goal you want.

That means:

 1. Taking responsibility for where you currently are (we talked about this in the podcast the other day)

 2. Being proactive. Actually being a goal “getter”, not a goal “setter”.

 3. Increasing your awareness to situations that have the power to enrich you or degrade you – and this is HUGE. Because of the compounding effects of these decisions, things can
snowball for you.

In fact, the guy that was talking (multi-millionaire many times over), basically said that we can even categorize things as a whole, by how we think about these decisions.

He called it “rich mind” versus “poor mind”.

Naturally, he was talking more about financial stuff, but to be frank…

… I’ve seen this SAME thing regarding health, diet, and fitness all throughout the years.

So that’s why I’m sharing this with you today.

The main difference in the people that actually get in the exact shape they want and the ones that don’t… is SIMPLY (and I mean SIMPLY)… the people that get in killer shape make MORE enriching decisions about their goals (ie their body) than the ones that don’t.

They’re proactive and they don’t make excuses for themselves.

Again, this is really funny because it couldn’t have come at a better time… because last Monday’s podcast goes into some of these exact same things.

Maybe it’s fate.

One more thing… and this is cool.

Another guy was talking about the “Theory Of Constraints” and how it’s not the “potential” you have that determines your overall success, but it’s the actual constraints (either physical or mental) that actually hold you back.

It’s like the weakest link.

But here’s the thing about the weakest link that most people don’t understand.

YOU yourself don’t necessarily have to learn a new skill or improve a weakness in order to remove a constraint.

In fact, that’s kinda the long way to do things.

Like for me, I hate accounting. So instead of messing with it myself and wasting time… and FOOLING myself into thinking I
know the answers (EGO)… which ultimately could cost me a LOT of money down the road in penalties…

… I just found SOMEONE ELSE… an expert at it – to handle it FOR me.

And the time and cash I save over me having to learn deep level accounting, can go into other things.

So that was one constraint for me. Getting accounting handled a few years ago.

Naturally, more pop up, but when you eliminate the NUMBER 1 thing holding you back, your results increase exponentially…

… like a dam breaking.

What’s the constraint for most guys trying to get in shape?

Inaction.

And what causes inaction?

Confusion – and not knowing what to do.

Here’s the deal.

If this is YOU, you CAN GET THIS HANDLED. Just like I got myaccounting issue handled. Just like a got my “law” issue handled when people try to take advantage of us.

You can invest in our systems… test ‘em out for less than the
cost of a happy meal, and GET THIS HANDLED.

No more searching the ‘net at all hours of the night.

No more confusion.

No more wondering.

It’s handled.

You get the systems, and then ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SHOW UP.

And showing up is 95% of anything, right?

Exactly.

You have a decision to make right now, it can either be an “enriching” one or a “degrading” one.

You can “enrich” by testing out our systems, getting this handled, saving yourself an ass ton of time and HASSLE…

… or you can keep spinning your wheels, and 2 weeks from now not only wonder why you don’t have any results, but try to place the blame on something else.

You CAN get this handled, by EXPERTS.

You simply have to be BRAVE enough to take the first step.

So my question is, do you want to change your life…

… or ACT like you’re changing your life?

This, quite simply, will be the BEST decision you make the rest of this year, and if you don’t feel it is – you don’t pay.

Period.

It’s go time. You deserve this.

We’ll see you in the forums.

Stay cool,

Brad

p.p.s. The difference in low level swimmers and high level swimmers isn’t the time they spend training, and most times, it’s not even that they most their arms faster in the water.

No, the TRUE breakthrough happens when the swimmer learns a better way to do the stroke.

Think about that.

You can be doing the SAME work as the next guy, but because his system is BETTER than yours, his results DWARF yours.

Same work + Better system = Compounding Results

Praxeology is the study of human action (for lack of a more detailed description).

And action is where it’s at for making any significant change in your life.

Changing your body, your career, your relationships etc. All of it requires some sort of action to make it happen.

The current state of your life is a result of the actions you take on a daily basis.

If you like where you are at, then simply continue what you’re doing.

If on the other hand you want something to change, then you’ve got to make some changes in what you do on a daily basis.

SAYING you want something, and DOING something about it are two different things.

From a praxeological stand point what you say is irrelevant, what you DO is everything. (and I tend to agree with this)

If you say “I want to lose weight” but you don’t actually do anything about it, then you’ve proven to everyone around you (and hopefully yourself) that you don’t in fact desire weight loss more than your current weight. <– otherwise you’d be doing something about it.

You probably know people who are big talkers and never take action <– this is the worse place to be because people around you quickly learn not to trust anything you say.

On the other hand you probably know people who don’t say much at all and just get things done. <– this is where you want to be, because when this person speaks, everybody listens.

People will always judge you based on what you DO and not on what you SAY.

And above it all, you’ve got to do DO what you SAY. So be careful what you say, because your reputation and your trustworthiness is on the line every time you open your mouth.

John

It’s Saturday night and along with the whole spirit of being social and having a killer social life…

… I figured I’d drop a little tip on you that you can put to use tonight.

I mean, what’s the point of having a killer body if you live like a hermit right?

Right.

Now, in yesterday’s podcast, I kinda mentioned this a little while talking to Rich, but one of the BIGGEST mistakes I see people make when they’re trying to meet other people, whether it be women at the bar or networking for work…

… is the fact that you’ve likely already set a serious goal for the interaction in your mind.

Thus, you get nervous about talking to people, and in a lot of cases, you’re so stressed about screwing up that you DON’T EVEN GO TALK TO THEM AT ALL!

I know you know where I’m coming from.

If you’re single, maybe it’s the hot blonde at the bar that you’d love to talk to, but you’re afraid that she’ll turn you down.

If it’s work related, maybe it’s that hot contact that could possibly put your company on the next level.

So here’s the deal.

Let’s put this in terms of if you were going out tonight.

(now I realize that you may already be ‘connected’, but just roll with me here as you’ll see how this can apply to you)

Imagine you walk into a party and you see a woman that catches your eye.

Now, the normal guy would look at this woman and try to think of the best “pick up line” or opener he could in order to possibly pave the way to getting to the “next level” with her.

But not you.

You know why?

Because, you don’t know anything about her… like AT ALL.

And do you know what you do?

You go meet her. Just to meet her.

You go satisfy your curiosity.

You don’t have an agenda, except for the fact that you want to find out a little bit more about the person that’s caught your eye.

And at this point, talking to her is EASY.

Here’s what I want to you try…

… here’s the “technique” if you will.

“Just meet people to meet people.”

No agendas, you’re just meeting cool people.

I think you’ll be really surprised at how easy it gets.

Have an awesome night.

Stay cool,

Brad

p.s. Go check out this cool video that Rich has up. I think you’ll enjoy it.

p.p.s. Yes, that’s me in the pic above. I’m at my buddy’s wedding, jumping over my brother while my sister laughs at us as the crowd goes wild… lol

Our buddy Brad Pilon put up a cool article on the new Invictus Workout that will SOON be taking the net by storm.

I liked the premise so much that I’m reprinting it here for you to feast your eyes on.

Ready?

Go!

“The Invictus Workout”

Haven’t heard of it yet?

Don’t worry, you will.

Invictus is a new movie that is coming out soon that stars Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman.

So why does it get it’s own workout?

Well Matt Damon plays Francois Pienaar, the Captain of South Africa’s Rugby team in the early to mid 1990′s. And, at minute 0:57 of the trailer for Invictus, you see Matt with his shirt
off for about 1.5 seconds.

Sounds silly but this is the equation:

Male Hollywood Celebrity Appears “Jacked” in a movie = On-line Hysteria over “How he did it”.

Think the Christian Bale Batman Workout, the Gerard Butler 300 Workout, or the Hugh Jackman Wolverine workout.

It works every time, without fail. Hollywood Celeb gets jacked, someone tries to cash in.

So I’m going to Preempt everyone with this one:

I know EXACTLY how Matt Damon got in shape for this movie…It’s the exact same way Hugh Jackman got in shape, which is the exact same way Gerard Butler got in shape and the same way Christian Bale gets in shape.

They dedicated themselves to Hard work and some form of resistance training.

We should all realize by now that there IS NO SECRET.

It doesn’t matter if you are lifting giant rocks, kettle bells, dumbbells or small barnyard animals.

It’s the hard work that gets the results, not the trendy tools.

Matt, Gerard, Christian, they are no different then you or me… well, other than the lifestyle and money part.

They work hard, they stay dedicated and consistent and they get results. It’s not some secret new workout of the star that until now was kept secret

It’s hard work.

So there you go… If you want to look like a Movie Star, the secret is hard work.

The trick to it all?

Next time you are in the gym imagine there is a 10 million dollar movie role on the line.

You get in shape, you get the role.

BP

And he’s right.

Even with the correct systems in place, if you don’t work at it, you get virtually no results.

This isn’t a walk in the park and on some days, you’ll just plain HATE it.

But them’s the ropes.

If you remember this past weeks podcast, we talked about this a bit.

Intensity.

Mental toughness.

Stretching your boundaries.

Escaping your comfort zone.

And you know what?

It’s WORTH it.

Just imagine how people will look at you when you get to that perfect Adonis Index.

Picture women asking you how you did it.

Listen to the men clamoring over your “secret” potion or “hidden” technique.

And then imagine grinning… because you know that even though you had an awesome workout system (ours) to keep you aimed in the right direction…

… you KNOW that the true secret to the body you now possess, the one that all of these people are hounding you about…

… didn’t come from anything you bought.

It didn’t come from magic.

No specific supplements.

No crazy workout machines.

YOU KNOW, that the true secret is:

Showing up and working out with rabbit-like intensity yet having turtle-like consistency

Each workout is a battle.

It’s you against your worst enemy…

… YOU!

The internal struggle of when to quit and when to push the gas. The flirting with the “edge”.

This is how it works.

This is your life.

And you’re now “that guy”.

Aren’t you?

Stay cool,

Brad

p.s. Hard work is important. But so are systems.

It’s like running as fast as you can for a mile to try to get to a gas station when you’ve run out of gas in your car.

With no knowledge of which way you’re going, the results you get (finding the gas station) rely more on luck and guessing than having a true aim. After all, wouldn’t having a road map be better?

Here’s that roadmap for the body you want.

Take roadmap. Insert wily determination.

Get results. Period.

I get irritated when I hear people saying one thing and doing another (as I’m sure this might irritate you as well).

This happens all the time and especially when it comes to changing the look and shape of your body.

When it comes to building muscle and losing fat, talk it cheap. Action is where it’s at.

If you say “I want to lose weight” but you never actually lose any weight…well then what you’re really saying is “I’d like to lose weight but I don’t want to do all the things it takes to actually lose the weight, so I’ll just talk about it instead”

The people who actually lose weight just do it, and don’t talk much about it.

Same with building muscle. If you say “I want to build muscle” but you never go to the gym and put in the tough workouts and push through every painful rep then what you’re really saying is “I’d like bigger muscles but I don’t want to stick to a workout program and put the effort in the gym that is required to get there”.

I’ve learned to tune out the people who are all talk and only focus on helping the people who really want to take action.

For most things in life talk is cheap, and action is where it’s at.

TALKING about something will never make it happen, DOING something about it will.

If you want to start doing something about your body then give The Adonis Index Workout System a try:

I asked my friend Alex Allman to write this post today based on a phone conversation we had the other day. I think “self trust” is an important topic for us all….

———-

Let’s chat for a minute about the comfortable, masculine confidence and ease that comes from “self trust”. It’s incredibly sexually attractive to women, it’s socially powerful among men, and it creates a deep sense achievement and well-being for the man who’s got it…

… and perhaps a sense of despair for a man that doesn’t.

Here’s a fact: I started working out back in 9th grade because I didn’t have ANY of those qualities, and maybe you can relate.

I hit puberty late. There are class pictures from my early teens where I look like somebody’s kid brother who snuck into the shot. I’m a head shorter than anyone else and I just look a lot less mature. My athletic coordination lagged right along with my body.

There was a particularly humiliating incident involving me, a pull-up bar, my entire class watching, and the gym teacher writing a 0 on a clip board, that started me on weights.

I get a lot of external validation from that decision. If I go running on the street with my shirt off, the occasional car-load of girls will whistle and hoot at me. And don’t even get me started on what happens if I walk through West Hollywood. An ex and her best friend once recounted a conversation they had before our first date. She said, “I’m not going to sleep with him, it’s just a date!” and her friend said, “Come on, you know if he takes his shirt off it’s going to be OVER.” And so it was.

But by far the biggest thing I got was learning to trust myself to show up.

There are a lot of things in life I have succeeded at, and plenty I’ve failed at. I’ve made promises to myself that I never kept– more than I’d care to remember. But showing up in the gym to take care of this body – the only one that I’ll ever have in this lifetime – has proven to me that I can keep an important commitment to myself with discipline and hard work.

I’m about to turn 44 and looking back, there have been times in my life when that’s about all I had to remind me that I could succeed… and that provided the ember to light the flame for many other bigger or more important challenges in my path.

I believe that self trust is the most important thing a man can have. Trusting yourself to make the right decisions, to know that even in the worst situations that you’ve got the ball, to feel in your bones that you can count on yourself in anything from sex to career to confrontation.

And this isn’t just a case of war-movie macho stuff. In fact, trusting yourself allows you to have more fun, to act silly, to not take things so seriously.

The biggest thing that kills attraction and sabotages the average guy’s relationships is his NEED for a woman’s validation. If she hands over her phone number, laughs at his jokes, agrees with his important point in conversation, takes off her clothing, has an orgasm in the bedroom, and says “yes”, then he feels great. But if she’s in a bad mood, isn’t in the mood for sex, doesn’t agree with him… then it triggers his insecurities and he becomes hostile and jealous.

A man like that, the guy I used to be, not to mention 99% of everyone else with a penis, will end up sabotaging his relationships, often before they start.

It usually takes a lot of external validation before we learn to expect life to hand us validation so confidently that we finally become internally validated. At some point when someone thinks we’re stupid, ugly, and wrong, we just laugh and think they must be crazy.

But there is another possibility that requires no outside validation from anyone else. A sweet realization that in this life you truly can do anything you want to do.

We invent the beliefs that keep us from knowing how incredibly free we really are. And I don’t mean free just in the “flag waving USA” sort of way. You could live in prison and be more free than just about anyone you’ll ever meet.

You can make a decision to just trust yourself and damn the consequences. You can decide that, come what may, you’ll take your own side and that nothing can touch you.

Ram Dass tells a story in “Be Here Now,” where he has just had this intense spiritual realization. Filled with joy he walks outside in the snow in the middle of the night and starts shoveling his parents walkway. His parents wake up from the sound and they yell out to him, “Come to bed, you idiot. Nobody shovels snow at 5 in the morning!”

He writes: “And I looked up at them and I heard the external voice I had been listening to for over 30 years, and inside of me, something said, ‘It’s all right to shovel snow, and it’s all right to be happy.’ [...] You can see in that moment in the early morning the seeds of the breakaway. The seeds of the ability to be able to confront, and even disagree with, an existing institution and know and trust that inside place that says it’s all right [...] All I’ll ever need to do is look inside and I’ll know what to do and I can always trust it.”

Learning to operate from this space can change everything in your life, from your career to your relationships.

I’ve been writing and lecturing on sexual skills and techniques for many years, but there is nothing that will make you more sexually powerful than fully realizing your masculine freedom.
